Hellgate Jetboat and Dinner Cruise

Grants Pass, Oregon, it was a splashing success!

Splish Splash we were having great fun!  For all of you who missed it, we couldn’t have asked for more, beautiful weather, tail wind both ways, good food, great company and one heck of fun jetboat ride on the Rouge River.

Arriving via Stinson were Pam & Rich Fischer; Patrick Glynn & Sheri Mattos; Dennis, Toni & Alex Dow, and us (Gary, Debbie & Curtis) also Scott, Annie & Megan Miles in a Cherokee 6.  Arriving via 4 wheels were Tony & Deanna Wright, Bob & Jeri Scott, Bill & Darlene Madsen all from sunny California.

There we were  jetting down the river the sun was just about burning us up, just then our pilot Trevor took care of that with a few quick STOPS and one BIG spin and a few of us were drenched.  Chow time at the OK Corral was fantastic.  All you can eat chicken and ribs with all the trimmings and most important bottomless beer and wine and great friends to share it all with.

On the way back up the river, more fun, more spins, more quick stops and since we didn’t slip the pilot a 20 dollar bill ahead of time he made sure everyone got their share of water, some more than others.Of course the veteran jet boat riders amongst us knew exactly where to sit to not get wet.

Sunday morning we woke up to a bit of overcast from a weak cold front which was scheduled to pass through the area.  By noon it was nicely broken up and we climbed above the scattered layer to 9500 where we got a good 20 miles tailwind all the way to northern California.  Amazingly the clouds below us stopped right at the Californian border, as if they knew …
