Postby petekaralus » Mon Apr 21, 2008 12:55 am

Hope i,m not to far off the subject path but am looking for some way to add strut tie downs to my 108-1, hate wrapping the rope around the faring, any thoughts or ideas...???Also., my starter at times will not kick back or release, appreciate any thought on repair or correction of problem. Thanks in advance. Pete at HEF.

Pete,

My 1939 HW-75 has tie down rings installed in place of one of the rivets at the upper end of the FWD lift strut. They were already in place when I got the project, so I am not sure whether they may be original, or may have been added by someone later. they are actually a long bolt the same size as the rivet with the ring welded onto the end of the bolt.

These struts are streamline aluminum tubing, and may not be made the same as the 108 series struts.

Send me your E-Mail address, and I will send you some photos of my rings. I don't know how to post photos on the bulletin board.
