SUN ‘n FUN 2009

I plan to be at Lakeland April 21 thru 26, for my sixth Sun ‘n Fun.

The International Stinson Club will have our usual table in the Type Club Tent. Be sure to stop by and say hello and leave your local contact information. ISC VP Billy Carter and Southeast Regional VP Bill Beerman plan to attend, but we will need lots of help. If you have a little extra time, please consider volunteering to man the table for an hour or two. There are several benefits: you get to meet lots of Stinson people; you get a chance to sit down out of the sun; volunteers get free drinks and “mystery meat” sandwiches.

In the past we have attempted to duplicate our Oshkosh “Fish Fry” dinner with a dinner at Sonny’s Real Pit Bar-B-Q on South Florida Avenue. In addition to great Bar-B-Q, there are several other items on the menu, plus a salad bar. Reasonably priced charter transportation is not available so have resorted to extra seats in rental cars and the help of local Stinsoneers. We will take a poll of attendees to determine interest.

Friday evening there is a dinner at Vintage Aircraft, next door to the Type Club Tent, before the night air show and fireworks. Stinsoneers can try to sit together for that event.

Regrettably, I will not be able to make this year's event, having just received an overhauled cylinder to correct the low compressions found during my annual.

Hopefully other club members will be able to pitch in and help out, and hopefully everyone will have a good time.

Meanwhile, the Raleigh East (9NC0) fly-in is on for 5/16!
